Beaufort County Warrant Records Beaufort County Warrant Records

Need to know if a warrant is out for you or a family member? The right office depends on where the case sits. In Beaufort County, that usually means the Sheriff's Warrants Clerk, the Fourteenth Circuit Public Index, or the municipal or magistrate court handling the matter. Each one answers a different question. A public index entry can show which court owns a case, but only a call to the court or clerk confirms whether a warrant is active right now. Before you reach out, have the issuing city and case number ready. A name by itself often matches more than one person, and a Beaufort County warrant check goes faster when the clerk can pin the file to one case.

BCSO Confirms County Warrant Status by Phone

BCSO’s public FAQ directs people to the Warrants Clerk at 843-255-3266 on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. After hours, the listed non-emergency dispatch number is 843-524-2777. The Sheriff’s Office does not provide a public online active-warrant list, and the Magistrate Court summons-and-warrants notice says the court does not give out warrant information.

When calling, have the full name and case or ticket number ready. Ask whether BCSO can confirm current status, which court issued the process, and which clerk should handle an appearance or records question. Dispatch is an after-hours contact, not a substitute for the issuing court’s schedule.

What a Warrant Search Asks For

There is no single county warrant form with fixed required fields. Different official tools ask for different identifiers, and their coverage varies. The Public Index can search name, date, crime type, or case number; the state ticket route uses county or municipality, ticket or case number, and last name. SLED CATCH is a paid criminal-history service using name and date of birth, but it excludes wanted persons.

The Public Index Search Is Not Statewide

The Beaufort Public Index is the Fourteenth Circuit’s case portal. Select Beaufort County, accept the terms, and search for related Circuit or General Sessions activity using the portal’s current options. It does not combine all South Carolina courts, and it is not a countywide warrant register.

A record can point to an issuing court or case number, but it may not reflect service, recall, or a later hearing. Magistrate traffic matters and city Municipal Court citations may remain in other systems. If a name returns a possible match, compare the case number and court before calling the clerk.

For an empty result, check the office that may hold a lower-court matter instead of concluding that no warrant exists.

Beaufort County Warrant Search Results

No public Beaufort County warrant-result format was identified because the county does not expose a searchable warrant roster. The table lists details to request from the record holder, not fields guaranteed to appear in one database. A case or citation number is a reference, not a confirmed warrant number.

Reference numberCASE OR CITATION NUMBER from the official notice
Charge / OffenseAsk the court which filed allegation or citation is involved
Issuing CourtConfirm Circuit, General Sessions, Magistrate, or a city Municipal Court
Bond AmountCase-specific; confirm with the court or Detention Center

JustFOIA Requests Existing Records

Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office uses a public JustFOIA portal for records requests. A request asks for records the agency already maintains; it is not an instant search form and does not require BCSO to create a new warrant roster. Identify the person or case, explain the records sought, and allow the office to process the request under South Carolina FOIA.

Use the portal when a phone contact or case portal does not answer a records question. For current active status, contact the Warrants Clerk rather than waiting for a public-record response. The image below shows the Sheriff’s records-request portal.

A portal submission is a request for records, not a verified status result.

Beaufort County Warrants: Who Holds What

BCSO’s Warrants Clerk is the county’s public active-status contact. The Beaufort County Clerk of Court keeps Circuit and General Sessions records at 102 Ribaut Road, Suite 208. Magistrate Court clerks hold lower-court, traffic, and bond records. City Municipal Court clerks maintain local citations and cases. The issuing court, not the Sheriff’s Office alone, controls court dates and recall decisions.

South Carolina has no single public statewide warrant database. SLED CATCH is a paid criminal-history service and excludes wanted persons. The Public Index is a case portal. For a thorough check, identify the court level and agency relevant to each possible case, then confirm current status with the record holder.

Magistrate and City Records Need Separate Calls

Beaufort Central Magistrate Court is at 104 Ribaut Road and can be reached at 843-255-5700. The Bluffton Magistrate office is at 4819 Bluffton Parkway, 843-255-5610. Beaufort Municipal Court is at 1901 Boundary Street, 843-525-7036; Bluffton Municipal Court is at 20 Bridge Street, 843-706-4530. Each clerk answers for a different docket.

Hilton Head Island’s former municipal court dissolved, and many later matters route through county courts. Hardeeville is near the Beaufort-Jasper line, so verify which county holds a separate county case. A city name alone does not identify the correct search system.

Use the citation or court notice to direct the question and avoid relying on an empty county portal result.

Which Warrants Stay Restricted

South Carolina FOIA covers existing public records but includes statutory exemptions and reasonable fees. Sealed process, juvenile justice records, and certain investigative material may not be open to public inspection. A request can be limited or redacted even when related court activity appears in a public docket. A record withheld from public view is not evidence that no warrant exists.

Key Rules:

S.C. Code § 30-4-30 provides public-record access subject to exemptions, redactions, and fees.

South Carolina Children’s Code sets special confidentiality rules for juvenile justice records.

A name missing from a portal is not proof that no warrant exists; verify with the court or BCSO.

State Ticket Tools Answer a Different Question

The South Carolina traffic route helps locate and pay eligible ticket cases. Select a county or municipality, enter the ticket or case number and last name, then follow the portal’s Locate Case and Confirm Payment steps. The state says processing can take three to five business days. If no record appears, contact the court printed on the citation.

This is not a statewide warrant search. A payment confirmation does not prove that a separate failure-to-appear warrant was recalled. Ask the issuing clerk to verify both the case balance and any court process.
